Volunteers, we want you!

​Koori Radio is on the lookout for  volunteers to work across a range of activities, including broadcasting, music programming and events.

Volunteering at Koori Radio is a great way to gain valuable communications experience, bolster your resume credentials and launch your career in media, broadcasting and events management.

Event volunteers

Volunteers will assist with the delivery of a series of Koori Radio events, including Klub Koori Campbelltown, Carriageworks, Sydney Festival and Mardi Gras, among others. As well as volunteers to work on the day of events, we’re also looking for a regular events management assistant who can volunteer for a minimum of five hours per-week in the office. Broadcasting volunteers

Get in touch with us to produce and host your own radio program! Koori Radio offers the unique opportunity to become a broadcaster for Sydney’s only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander radio station. Previous radio experience is not required, training will be provided to get you started. Becoming a volunteer broadcaster is the perfect way to get your start in broadcasting and learn some new skills. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Indigenous peoples to apply, particularly those with an interest and knowledge of Indigenous/world music genres and cultures. We are also seeking broadcasting volunteers to assist with the following activities:

  • Regular reviewing of live to air programs with feedback  (off site)
  • Assitant Producers for all Koori Radio 93.7fm volunteer broadcaster programs
  • Brekky Show Assistant Producer – working closely with Brekky Show presenter
  • Black Chat Show Assistant Producer – working closely withBlack Chat Show presenter
  • Making Tracks Show Assistant Producer – working closely with Making Tracks Show presenter

Administration Volunteers

We are seeking volunteers to assist with the following administrative activities:

  • Creating a weekly gig-guide for social media and broadcasting, an annual calendar of events, and databases for festivals, artists etc
  • Entering log book playlists from programs into AMRAP pages via www.kooriradio.com (off-site)
  • Creating draft sponsorship documents (off-site)
  • Creating draft media documents (to be delivered to artists, festivals, media orgnisations etc)  (off site)
  • Email database and archive management, sorting and deleting out of date entries etc

Production Volunteers

We are seeking volunteers to assist with the following production activities:

  • Sourcing music content from approved sites and forwarding to Program Manager (off site)
  • Rendering music audio files and saving to USB  (off site)
  • Uploading audio to Dalet digital music library
  • Rendering CD’s  (off site)
  • Re-organising Dalet digital music library with staff
  • Removing explicit content from Dalet digital music library
  • Programming overnight Dalet digital music library
  • Creating specific music blocks for broadcast  (off site)
  • Sourcing national and international audio content  (off site)
  • Reviewing potential programs  (off site)
  • Editing/producing new Koori Radio station ID’s  (off site)
  • Creating program promo’s / program segments spots / daily themes etc  (off site)
  • Assistant Producers for outside broadcasters  (on/off site)
