As well as supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, here at Koori Radio we take a lot of pride in showcasing a diverse range of first people’s perspectives and celebrating Indigenous culture all over the world. That’s why we’ve created the ‘Indigenous World’ project, a new radio feature set to launch with the broadcasting of Native American program, ‘Earthsongs’, every Tuesday at 11:00pm, starting from the 4th of August, 2015.
Produced by Native Voice One in Alaska and broadcast on more than 140 stations across the U.S. and Canada, ‘Earthsongs’ is a one-hour weekly modern mix of Indigenous American artists who are setting new directions in blues, folk, jazz, country, reggae, and hip hop. The show is hosted by Alexis Sallee, a Inupiaq/Mexican American man.
As part of the this cross-cultural Indigenous radio exchange, our own ‘Indij Hip Hop’ show will be broadcast by Native Voice One, giving Northern American audiences a taste of the best Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander hip hop.
Tune in to ‘Earth Songs’ every Tuesday night at 11:00pm on 93.7FM or online at www.kooriradio.com.
